About the Forsterhof
A boutique hotel surrounded by apple orchards - what’s the idea behind the Forsterhof?
The Forsterhof is a boutique hotel tucked away among the apple orchards of Lagundo. A peaceful hideaway where you can slow down, reconnect with nature and enjoy life’s simple pleasures.
Our vision was to build on our family’s legacy while creating a special place to unwind. A small, intimate retreat, run with a personal touch and surrounded by nature. In a world that never seems to slow down, we want the Forsterhof to be a place where you can leave the rush behind, take a deep breath and simply enjoy being here.
What does “slow and active” mean at the Forsterhof?
The Forsterhof is both a starting point for new adventures and a place to come back to and unwind. Here, it’s all about finding your own balance between getting out and slowing down. Breakfast outdoors in the morning, a stroll through the apple orchards, a hike in the mountains, an aperitivo in Merano, or simply a good book by the pool. Every day can be whatever you want it to be.
Because we believe that true luxury is having time. Time to do exactly what you feel like doing. And time for all those little things that everyday life so often leaves behind.
Who runs the Forsterhof, and what makes staying here so personal?
The Forsterhof is run by Magdalena and Christine Erlacher, a mother-and-daughter team with a deep personal connection to the hotel.
You’ll notice it in the little things. We know the area inside out, have our favourite hidden spots and love welcoming back familiar faces. We’ll happily tell you where we like to eat and point you towards a trail you might never have discovered on your own.
What’s included in a stay at the Forsterhof?
Our room rates are per person, per day, and include our Slow Breakfast along with all the little extras that make a stay at the Forsterhof special: a welcome aperitivo, a hiking backpack in your room, walking poles and umbrellas to borrow, secure bike storage, a pool bag with a bathrobe and towel, our own Forsterhof natural skincare products, fresh apples and water in your room, and the LagundoCard for travelling on public transport.
Of course, you can also enjoy our heated infinity pool at no extra cost. And because a good local tip can sometimes be worth more than a guidebook, we’ve put together our very own guide to the area, filled with our favourite places, hidden gems and personal recommendations.
The local tourist tax, e-bike rentals, afternoon snacks, Dine Around and minibar are charged separately.
When is the best time to visit the Forsterhof?
There’s no single answer to that. Every season brings its own charm to the Forsterhof and its surroundings.
In spring, the apple trees burst into bloom and nature comes back to life. It’s the perfect time for the first hikes and bike rides of the year, and long days spent outdoors.
June and July are ideal for heading into the mountains, hiking scenic trails and enjoying the fresh mountain air. And when you return, the infinity pool is waiting.
August is all about slowing down. Warm summer days, leisurely breakfasts on the terrace, an aperitivo in the garden and a refreshing dip in the pool whenever you feel like it.
September and October bring cooler days and a gentler pace. The temperatures are perfect for hiking and cycling, while the apple orchards and surrounding landscape slowly take on their autumn colours.
And December and New Year’s Eve? That’s when the Forsterhof feels especially cosy. A crackling fire, a private sauna in your room and a little magic in the air. Then there are the Christmas markets in Merano and Bolzano, winter walks and, snow permitting, days on the slopes at Merano 2000, Monte San Vigilio or Val d’Ultimo.
Are dogs welcome at the Forsterhof?
Yes, four-legged friends are very welcome!
There’s a charge of € 30 per dog, per day. We’re also happy to provide a dog blanket and water bowl for the duration of your stay. Please note that dogs aren’t allowed on the sunbathing lawn or in the breakfast room during breakfast. They’re more than welcome to join you for breakfast on the terrace, though.
Are children welcome at the Forsterhof?
Yes, of course! The Forsterhof is a peaceful retreat, so we simply ask that our younger guests respect the calm and quiet atmosphere.
If you’re looking for a lively family holiday packed with organised activities and entertainment, the Forsterhof might not be quite the right fit. But if you’d love to spend quality time together, explore the surroundings and enjoy a little peace and quiet along the way, you’ll feel right at home.
Can I book the entire Forsterhof for a private celebration or corporate event?
Yes! The entire Forsterhof can be booked exclusively for groups of up to 50 people, whether it’s for a retreat, corporate event, team offsite, wedding or private celebration.
We can also arrange lunch, dinner and catering upon request.
You’ll find more details on our “Book the Forsterhof Exclusively” page.
